Attention Getter

I always tell my students to start with an attention getter to grab the reader. On the recent Romeo and Juliet essays to explain who was responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, one student, an otherwise great writer, started with this:

"A great woman once said, 'If I can't have you I don't want nobody baby.'"
