$149.99????

Can you hear my voice rise audibly with that price? $149 fricking 99??
I just saw at Wal-Mart a neat new toy that takes me back. The Millenium Falcon. Comes with two figures, Han Solo and Chewbacca. It looks really neat. It sure drew my attention.
But $149.99??? I swiped this picture from eBay selling it for $180, $200 with shipping.
Who can afford this to play with? Who can afford to buy this for their kid? If I bought this, I would never take it out of its package. I suppose I could and then set it up and display it--that's another thing. I can display my figures on a shelf but how do I display this huge thing?
Not even for a Christmas gift.
I remember as a kid begging for the He-Man Castle Grayskull playset. That was over $20 and that was a stretch, I truly remember. That was blasted expensive way back then. I honestly can't remember owning the Millenium Falcon myself as a kid--I think the other boys on the street had it. It was probably too expensive. I think the kid next door, Sean O'Connor, the only child that had all the toys in the line, had it.

Is this pricing, at $149.99, then only for the real super-collectors? I just don't see how the regular little kids are going to talk their mommies and daddies into this one. I mean, it costs more than a day's pay for most of us. It does for me (on a year-scale).

According to an action figure website I found that reproduced this image from the 1977 Sears Wish Book, with the description, the original Millenium Falcon toy cost...$24.77.

Action figures sold separately.

This one, while much smaller, is much more my speed:

Yeah, but you can fit FOUR people in the cockpit! Now we can act out all the best parts from Empire Strikes Back. Because all the best parts of that movie take place in the cockpit of the Falcon.

Okay, I'll give that to you. That is one super-cool feature. Just wish it was cheaper. The product is super-cool, but I just can't afford it, gosh darnit!
